Founded in 1956, the Firm serves the region from three conveniently located offices in Syracuse, Auburn and New Hartford. Over 75% of Dermody, Burke & Brown’s client base is privately held businesses. John J. Tartaglia, CPA, CIT, Partner, John joined Dermody, Burke & Brown in 1988 after 11 years in private industry. John has more than 45 years of combined industry and public accounting experience. During that time, his experiences included providing comprehensive audit, accounting and consulting services to a wide variety of clients covering many different industries including manufacturing, construction, specialty contractors, transportation companies and professional service firms.
John is a Construction Industry Technician and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from St. John Fisher College. John is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Donald E. Albright, CPA, Principal, joined Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC in 1997. Don services a variety of clients and has over 25 years of accounting and auditing experience. Don performs audit, review and compilation engagements, as well as consulting services for our closely held business clients. Don serves a variety of industries including construction contractors, manufacturers, ambulatory health care facilities and small businesses. He has also performed work for a variety of tax-exempt clients including unions, SUNY school auxiliary services and museums, among others.
Don holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Columbia College and is a member of both the NYSSCPA and AICPA.
Christian C. Samara, CPA, Tax Manager, Christian joined Dermody, Burke & Brown in 2016. Christian serves clients with matters of tax compliance, tailored tax planning, complex accounting issues, and bookkeeping. His experience includes working with large multi-state corporations in manufacturing, wholesale, and retail as well as local family-owned businesses in a variety of industries.
Christian graduated from Le Moyne College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In 2023 he was honored by the CNY Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 recipient for his professional achievements and his contributions to the community. He is a Board Member and Treasurer of the Syracuse Sunrise Rotary Club and is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
